Default Jeep + Trailer?

So, I have a 2dr which is ok for 2 people, but when we put our 2 dogs in with us to go camping, we lose all storage space. I am looking at trailers and the best bet seems to be a military trailer of sorts. Something like the 1/4 ton ammo trailer seems to be a favorite but I have the opportunity to buy a 3/4 ton trailer. (US military M101A1 3/4) Is this too big to pull with a 2dr? should i go smaller? Has anyone pulled something like this for 5-6 hours each way? We won't be wheeling with it but some dirt/fire roads won't be out of the question in the future.

Thanks

I think the M101a2 3/4 trailers are just a little big for the Jeeps. The weigh in at like 1200lbs empty so that eats alot of your towing capacity right there. I have an M416 trailer and it seems the perfect fit. If you can't find an M416 or Canadian M101 and you don't plan on offroading with it just pick up a 4x6 utility trailer from a dealer. Here's my set up..

I really like your setup!

Did you stick with the pintle hitch or weld on a ball receiver?

Thast exactly what I was looking for. After seeing the 1/4 ton with the jeep, the 3/4 would be HUGE.

Thanks!!

where did you track down the m101? I have been searching and they are either hours away from me or really expensive. Did you go through a dealer of sorts?

The M416 I have? I searched Craigslist daily for 5 months until I found mine. The M101 Canadians are really hard to find for under 1000 bucks. The US M101 3/4 tons can be found on govliquidations.com it's like ebay for military surplus.. Also check out G503.com's message boards for the M416 trailers...but the going rate for a good one is 800-1200 bucks. I'm into mine about 1000 now.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's pulled a bale waggon
