There are two organizations that have ruined music: The RIAA and Clear Channel Communications. So I prefer independent artists (IOW, non-RIAA) that don't see radio play (because Clear Channel Communications/iHeartCommunications executives select the winners for most of the USA). Artists I enjoy are ones I've curated using Pandora once I stopped listening to what radio executives and my friends told me I should like, and started listening to what I really enjoyed instead. So my taste in music is a bit weird and you've probably not heard of most of them: Amethystium, Chicane, Iron & Wine, Ulrich Schnauss, Ghost in the Machine, Stars of the Lid, Magna Carta, Fallout Shelter no 028, Alexi Murdoch, Alpha Wave Movement, etc.
I'm not sure this will work, but maybe it will.

Regardless, if you're listening to anything iHeartCommunications publishes the approved playlist for, your music has been limited to what a bunch of executives think will make them money. And so has most of your friends. Try expanding your horizon a bit by letting someone else open it up for you. This article is about one station, but they own well over a thousand today ...

Ghost in the Machine is local to Mid-Mo and open for almost any decent rock or metal band that comes through town. They recently changed their name to Made in Waves. Pretty good music. Iron and Wine sounds familiar but im going to check out some of the others you listed.

Maybe I'm ok with the Anti Clear Channel conformists since I also go outside the commercial realm and additionally listen to the 80's Hard Rock non radio airplay stuff as well? Bang Tango, Badlands, Fastway, King Kobra, Love/Hate, WASP, Widowmaker, Yngwie and Manowar.
However, I try not to show my age too much on that front and am also into the more Modern Hard Rock bands. Currently Pop Evil, and Five Finger Death punch are a couple of my Faves you'll find me rockin' out to my JK.
My hairs not as long as it used to be, but as long as I can still bang my head to it, then it's all good with me.
