Jk-8 in production?
So my girl friends dad is a mopar mechanic and works at a dealership and comes home and told me that dodge is done with the Dakota line completely so we were thinking dodge has to have a mini truck so u think that jeep with come out with the jk-8 in production or what will they come out with
as far as i know jeeps ceo said that jeep will relook putting a truck intro production in 2014 when the wrangler lineup is changed. (i think it 2014, may be later) he did say that he was interested in perusing a production truck.
Well if they Chrysler is planning on shutting down the Dakota line like they have to have a 1/4 ton pick up and what better solution than the jk8 like u realize how many ppl would buy it I know if I could I will trade my islander in on one like I wanted a Comanche for so long but living in PA it's so hard to find a decent one
a Jeep wouldnt replace the Dakota. Chrysler/Fiat spent Millions of Dollars spinning off trucks from Dodge into the Ram Trucks line of which the Dakota is a part, why spend hundreds of millions of dollars with this move to just replace one trucks from your new truck line, with a truck in one of your other lines? from a business and marketing perspective it makes no sense.
Yep:
The third-generation Dakota was discontinued in 2011, with the last one coming off the assembly line on August 23, 2011,
Dodge was done with the RAM and Dakota over 2 years ago? All Dodge trucks split off and now are under the brand "RAM"
http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/2011/dakota/
Over the years, Dodge has become at least as well-known for its many truck models as for its prodigious passenger car output. In 2009, trucks were spun off into the Ram brand, named after the brand's most popular truck, the Dodge Ram. However, it should be noted that even though the Ram trucks are marketed separately from Dodge cars, Ram President Fred Diaz has stated that "Ram trucks will always and forever be Dodges. Ram will always have the Dodge emblem inside and outside and they will be vinned as a Dodge. We need to continue to market as Ram so Dodge can have a different brand identity: hip, cool, young, energetic. That will not fit the campaign for truck buyers. The two should have distinct themes."
Now if it comes back as a 2012 / 13 :
Or:
The "Dodge" junkies are talking about a new truck based on the Caliber platform. There are concept photos somewhere on the net. Probably a pipe dream...like the factory putting a Hemi V8 in a Wrangler!
