Default JK comparison

I was curious what the capabilities of the H3 actually where so I went to the Hummer site to look it up. I clicked on the compare tab and what do you know they wont compare their baby hummer to the Wrangler. I wonder why They only compare it to all of the other immitation SUV's. They try and say that H2 and H3 are better because they have some kind of liniage with the Humvee. But refuse to compare. We all beg to differ.

Just a guess, but I don't think anyone in the market for an H3 cares about the JK or for capabilites in general.

Most people I know who have TJs and want to order the JK don't care about the JK's capabilities either. It's only on forums, where people are the more extreme end of the spectrum, that this issue becomes important.

That being said, I drove my brother's H3 and I don't think it can even outperform my little TJ, let alone a new 4-dr JK Rubi.

Default The only real vehicle that Hummer makes is the H1...

I personally like the H1, because it is a direct cousin to the HMMWV that is saving my friends lives in war zones. I have driven thousands of miles in the Army versions of this vehicle and have plenty of respect for it's capabilities. The H2 is a rebodied pickup and the H3 is even weaker just a Chevy Equinox with a body kit! The only reason I condone the 2 and 3 is so AM General can stay profitable to build better vehicles for the military.

Well put! Agreed!!!

My best friend's dad was a Lt. Colonel in the USAF out in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War (first one) - I used to live out there. He would drive us around in the pre-GM Humvees off-base. Rough vehicles but really capable. It would crawl through anything.

The H3 is not a Chevy Equinox.
The H3 is based on the GMT-355 Architecture. Same as Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon.
The Equinox is a Theta. Same as the Saturn Vue.
The H2 is based on the Old GMT800 Suburban with bits of the 99-06 Tahoe in it.

The H2 is a POS off-road, and the H3 is better, but still nowhere near as good as a Wrangler.

I thought that initially AM general had made the H1, called it the hummer, and then GM had assumed the production of the H1, then bought the rights to the name. I was under the impression that now that the H1 is no longer in production that there was no link to the lineage of the HMMWV with H2 and H3 other than the name. This could be wrong.

I personally can't stand the H1, er HUMVEE, because I've seen it fail so many times here in Iraq. I have logged so many miles in the dang things that I am ashamed of myself. It is downright scary off-road when it shifts it's weight from three tires on one side to three on the other, because it has no articulation. The H2 is a close cousin to the Tahoe, it has modified suspension and driveline, but it is very close. The H3 is the offshoot of the Colorado pickup. I do not condone either or any, because AM General needs to let go of the contract so that a better vehicle can be built for our military that actually saves lives.

The h2 shares its platform with the tahoe/suburban and silverado/sierra gmt8000 architecture.
The h3 shares its platform with the trailblazer/envoy and colorado/canyon.

The h1 is in its own place shares almost nothing with any other vehicle platform
with a mostly riveted body very little spot welds and a very narrow frame along most of its length.
