JK to Ford F150 SVT Raptor
How weird is this - I posted ^^^ on Friday, and on Saturday I was driving the F150 when a bimbo driving a Lexus GS came across the center line and totaled me head head-on. I got taken to ER on a back board but nothing is broken and I'm just sore as hell.
The F150 and the Lexus weigh exactly the same. Both are toast. Combined impact speed was 70-80 mph. Airbags all around.
If I had been driving the lifted JK she would probably still be picking my winch hook out of her teeth.

The collision was completely strange. Two lane road, no traffic, early afternoon, no booze, no drugs, no sun in their eyes, no cell phone. By the time she hit me I was on the right shoulder and she still hit the right front corner of the F150 with the right front corner of the Lexus. In other words, if she hadn't hit me it would have been a big fir tree to my right. Just really bad driving I guess.
Your friend is right, of course, but it sure threw an eff into my plans for the weekend, and I'm gonna miss that sweet SWB F150

On the other hand, I still have the Jeep!!
Can't believe I ran across this thread. Just bought my 14 JKUR back in March but I've been eyeballing the hell out of Raptors. I live in a 'Ford town' with two different Ford plants (super duty trucks and the escape) so I see Raptors constantly. There are a ton of Ford discounts to go around for employees and family. But after reading this thread, I'm sticking with my JK. Nothing beats the look and capability of a well endowed JK. Plus, my wife would literally kill me if I asked for a new car - she's a cop a quite handy with a Glock 22. Lol.
Ok I got. All good points. Keep the JK, I will. The JK is way more suited to the trials and roads in the southeast anyway. Lots of trees. You couldn't open up a raptor if you wanted to. Thanks for all of the replies.
I drive a 2013 Raptor right now. I love the Raptor. That being said, I also LOVE the JK. I have owned a 2012 Raptor, traded it for a 2013 AEV JK350 with the Pentastar V6. I had a terrible time adjusting to the V6 vs the 6.2 that was in my Raptor. I wound up trading the JK and going back to a 2013 Raptor.
I have been a Jeep man my whole life. I have had several CJ7's both V6's and V8's.
The Ford Raptor is a fantastic truck! It draws more attention than any vehicle I have ever owned. It is great in the snow, off road etc. the one thing I hate about it is... It is extremely wide and won't fit on MANY of the trails etc that I like or want to travel. The ride quality is great BUT the AEV ride quality was (in my opinion and my wife's) just as good and maybe a little smoother, especially when off road.
I average a little better that 12.5 mpg around town and only a little better on the highway.
I don't have really anything negative to say about the Raptor other than IT IS VERY WIDE! Please don't take this as me "complaining" about the width, I knew exactly what I was purchasing when I bought it.
If you are seriously thinking about going from a JK to the Raptor, I say go for it! But if you like heading down the local ORV trails and old logging roads etc, you may live to regret the decision of getting a truck that is 7" wider than a regular F150 and pretty much the same width as an H1 Hummer.
I do love my Raptor, BUT... I am most likely going back to the AEV JK and doing it right this time and having either the 5.7 or 6.4 Hemi put into this one. I have driven the 5.7 and it is an absolute blast! I am waiting to drive the 6.4 before I pull the trigger.
I apologize for being so long winded, but I hope in some way this helps with you're decision.
I live in Marietta Ga if you would like to drive mine? You are welcome to email me with any further questions etc?
Good luck.
