Default JK insurance rate increase

This month my GEICO insurance rate on my 09 JK 2 door jumped from $355 per 6/mo to $409. I'm 25, never had a ticket, never once had a wreck. GEICO's explanation is that JK parts and repair cost is exceeding their original expectations. I smell BS but anyone run into this or have any insight?

Tell them that their rates have exceeded your expectations and you may have to look elsewhere.

Shop around. You can change your auto insurance at any time. Many companies give discounts for people who are new customers to them. You should check what competitors are charging and if they can beat the price switch. It's so easy to get quotes now you might as well.

I have GEICO and I just checked out my policy. My policy renewed back in March and my rates actually dropped $18/6 months for my 2010.

I Got the same thing from my state farm agent. She told me that our wranglers have had a big increase in claims over the last 12months. Sounds like some crazy drivers are out crashing them out and rolling them over

The cause is BS, not so much that 8 dollars a month is a big hike but my Alfa insurance just went down 7 dollars or so a month. No reason given just cheaper now. GEICO is not always cheapest they were 400 dollars a year more for me on two rides.

My insurance provider classifies my JK as a 4 door wagon. I can't recall the exact number of the top of my head, but I know the insurance on my passat is more than the wrangler.

seems ridiculous that the hike would not be justified by an event directly impacting your policy. I know they're just out to make money, but you have input also, tell them you will be shopping for a new company if they can't find a way to get you back to normal (or better).

not to hijack, but does anyone know what the add on for a policy is that will cover aftermarket add ons? need to get this added to my JKU stat.

I smell a rat too. Tell them that you reserve the right to get your insurance frome someone else. Remind them that it's so easy even a caveman can do it. Lol
