Not to brag either but my jk (x) is stock besides the tires, rock rails, evap skid, winch wich doesn't change the way it performs and i run with a lifted yj on 37" a lifted tj on 37" and a lifted cj on 38" and they are all impressed as to how i can follow them throught most stuff and i get the impression they are worried about the day mine gets lifted with 35" tires and lockers. All other jeeps stated are locked up front and rear. Most of the time its the lockers that get me.
Have you never heard of a multipurpose vehicle? My Rubicon is my DD AND it takes me down rugged, remote, technical trails on the weekends. Where do you live? I damn sure wouldn't want a soft top here in the winter. It doesn't rain much here, so in the summer I just keep the top off most of the time. Sometimes I run with the front panels in because the sun is pretty intense here.
Regarding joneszj, I, have had three Jeeps, dating back to 1991 (89 YJ), 99 Grand Cherokee, and now the 09 JK 4 door. If it wasn't for the four door, I could not and would not own a JK. I have 4 kids and what would the fun be if I couldn't take my kids with me on trails and excursions off road, oh and my wife too.
The 4 door fits the bill perfect, and we do take the top off, the panels mostly, the whole top often enough, and the doors come off as well. Just because you see some grocery getter 4 doors don't lump them all in there, even clean ones, there are many 2 doors that are flexing on speed bumps at the grocery store as I type, along with TJ's.
Oh, power windows..what's the deal with that argument. I can have all 4 windows down in about 2 seconds while you are still cranking....the plug unsnaps in a second when taking the doors off...
Funny stuff.
I used to get tortured by a friend of mine about having a 4 door jeep with all the bells and whistles, He has an '06 rubicon thats all jacked up and thought his rig was far superior to mine. We hit the trails about a month ago and he buried his jeep in a mud pit we came across while I just sat and watched. I'll say it right now, I dont wheel that often and im not a big fan of mud pits, while they are fun to play in its a bitch to clean the crap off afterwards. Anyway, I pulled his ass out of the mud then thought to myself "f*ck it! i'm gonna show him how it's done". Into the mud I went, no issues getting in or out and while he was standing outside of his rig checking for something or another I made sure he got covered in the mud flying off of my tires. Now he wants a JK, likes the style better than the older jeeps
. JK's are probably the most capable jeep right out of the box that there has ever been, sooner or later everyone will warm up to them.

Now, that's funny!
