Default Just not right...

Okay, I may be a newbie, but I have had my JK for a year now and have been reading this forum since day one and I've just gotten brave enough to start posting.

When I was 18 I picked out a CJ to be my first vehicle, but before I purchased it someone else bought it. I ended up getting a Honda but never stopped dreaming about that CJ. A year ago I decided that I was just going to do it and I got my 08 JK X. I have never been happier and never will I drive another vehicle again, but here is my problem.

For a year now I have dreamed about what I want to do to my JK and, well, it's pretty much still stock. I just don't know how you guys do it. I decided that I am just going to save every cent I have for mods and do what I want to my JK, but then I clicked on the "You Tube" videos today and I just about cried. I realized that no matter how much I mod my JK what I am missing is truly using it. Mine is my daily driver, which I love, but I've only had off roads a few times and for short periods of time only (and boy was that fun!).

Some of those videos are just works of art. I would love to be in any one of them. It is a way of life, and I'm stuck on the wrong side of the tracks. I would love to get out and use my JK for what it was built for, but it's just not something I can do. It sucks being surrounded by non-Jeep people when you are truly a Jeep girl at heart!

Sorry for the venting I just figured if anyone could understand it would be the people on here. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, I know there are a lot of people here with mod lists longer than mine that don't even have their JK yet. My heart goes out to all of you!

Your JK is stock? So what's the problem? This forum is not a mod. competition. It's a place to share experiences, to learn and to make friends...

Welcome

Congrats on the Jeep. Like it was said, this isn't a forum where we try and outdo the Jones'. A lot of poeple have mods, and a lot don't. My 08 is still bone stock and you'd be amazed what these things can do out the box. looks like you're in FL and there's a great group of folks out there that will be more then happy to take you out wheeling with them

I think you may have misunderstood me. I am not trying to compete with anyone. I am jealous because I can not do what others are doing in their JKs. You said it yourself.. sharing experiences.. I have none to share and it sucks. Every time I come on here I read about everyone elses and I wish it were me. It has nothing to do with a mod competition. It has to do with living life the the fullest.

You don't have to modify it to wheel it. The stock JK is very capable. The idea is to know just what those capabilities are and don't exceed them. Especially if it's your daily driver.

I know this for these same reasons that you made this post. I run a stock '07 X. I still have the smallest tires on the narrowest steel wheels with no lift, or anyother functional modifications except a set of $300 Rugged Ridge side rails.

Everthing else is just convience add ons that don't do anything to make my Jeep more capable.

Yet, I'll take my JK into what I consider pretty rough terrain (certainly nothing a car or even some pick-ups could traverse) have lots of fun and haven't broken anything yet.

I rely on this Jeep every day to get me where I need to be.

One of the great things about Jeeps is that there is always something you can add in the futrue as the $$$ gets better. But until then even the most basic X right off the lot is the most fun vehicle you are going to own.

What you may need to find is other Jeep owners near you so you can meet up and have a little fun. I haven't met one Jeeper out on the trail that wasn't willing to help out a newbee.

Welcome to the forum. Now take her out and get it dirty

I hear ya!

When I was a teenager I had a group of friends that all had 4WD's of some description (mostly ancient SWB Landcruisers and the odd CJ Jeep), and I used to love offroading with them. It was always my dream to own a real 4WD one day (as opposed to a SUV posing as on offroader as many do these days) and I finally went out and bought a new JK last Christmas. Only problem is that now my old friends are all married with kids and drive minivans to the kids' soccer games on weekends.

So I've been just getting out on my own on the trails & finding that I meet many off-road enthusiasts, and find particularly that the Jeep crowd are very friendly and always keen to say hello & check out your rig (even if it is just stock like mine), and I've already made many friends. So hope you get out there more when you can & have some fun !

And when it comes to Wranglers, even in stock trim they'll out perform just about anything else on the market that hasn't been heavily modded, which is actually a bit of a pain as I find myself constantly dragging other 4WD's out of mud and ruts that I've just cruised through half-asleep in my Jeep!

First of all, welcome to the forum.

I am not sure I am getting what you are saying. Are you saying you can't afford to mod your Jeep? If that is the case, don't fret it. Your JK is a very capable rig straight off the lot and should provide plenty of fun.

That being said, modding your jeep is part of the fun and we all want our Jeeps to look great and show off our individuality. Saving $ is the key, and build in stages. Lift and tires, then Rock Rails, then bumpers, then gears etc. (or what ever order you want to do it) It may take a long time, but who cares.

I would say 90% of the Jeeps on this forum are daily drivers so you are in good company. Take a look at WOL's Project JK rig to see what a daily driver can become, but it certainly doesn't have to be that big to conquer all but the freakiest trails.

You mention a couple of times that you want use your Jeep for what it is meant for, well my best advice would be DO IT! go to the Sunshine group thread and go out for some rides, meet and greets etc. It is a great way to learn about your Jeep, the local trails, and you will meet a lot of fellow Jeepers. You will also find people that will be more than happy to help you with the installs of all your mods saving you some money while you learn about your JK.

Here is the link https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/foru...sprune=-1&f=53

The most important part of having a Jeep is having fun with and waving to all the other Jeeps.

You have come to the right place.

I don't think my boyfriend would be too thrilled about me going on trails with someone else and I know he wouldn't want to come... as I said, it sucks being surrounded by non-jeep people... maybe some day!

maybe you need to get a new boyfriend.it's
not right to have someone that won't enjoy the Jeep with you. if he won't go with you then he shouldn't get mad when you go wheeling with other people.I bet if you let him know you are going wheeling with other people he will go to keep an eye on you and maybe he'll get that Jeep bug also.

Sounds like you need to break up with your boyfriend. Just kidding... sort of.

There are plenty of women that drive Jeeps and go on the runs and it's not like it will be you and one other fat middle aged beer drinking Jeep guy wearing a wife beater, Carharts, steel toed boots, trucker cap and sporting a cheesey mustache. It will be you and 6 or 7 guys that look like that and often times their families.
