Default Just pulled the trigger on River Raider!

I am pretty excited...went to the PA All Breed Jeep Show this past weekend and met the guys from River Raider and was BEYOND impressed! I actually came looking to buy another snorkel, but walked away committed to this product!

It is stout to say the least! Plus, I do not have to cut the hood, a small 3" hole in the side will do it and screw it into the windshield frame. They will paint the snorkel to match the Jeep, but I went with the black textured epoxy...I just like the look, the painted one sorta just fades away and looks not right (to me!).

I have been considering a snorkel for a long time...never go out of my way to find water or even mud. However, when we hit the trails, I have come up on several crossings that brought water to the top of the hood and this just seems to provide me with some added protection. I went ahead and ordered the breather extension tubes as well as the hard line staineless steel tube all the to the air box. I may go back later for their own air box as well!?

I will post pics and let you know how the install goes.

I like the river raider....BUT cost was a big factor for me and I went with the AEV. It is nice to have that safety factor of the snorkel for deeper than expected water crossings! post some picks when you get it installed.

I hear ya on the cost...but, when I thought about it, I was worried that the hood mounted snorkel may take too much of a shot and possibly some damage, whereas this mounts behind the fender flare and is significantly stronger. It works out to be about $220 more than the other, but I figure it should be worth it...time will tell! Will keep you all posted with pics!

i like both raider and aev.... but for me I will be going with AEV simpy b/c it would be easier and most likely cheaper to replace the hood (should i ever choose to uninstall it) than replace a quarterpanel.

enjoy! a snorkel is HIGH up on my list soon!
