In fact the deepest two scratches on my dash are attached to a very pleasant memory and every time I see them I think back on that trip and seeing manatees in the wild for the first time. The dog made them because we had to leave her locked up in the jeep while we went out on the dock as a family.
i think most of the point was just kicking the door... not scratches, i sure didnt say scratches... AND hell yes its annoying to kick that damn thing all the time. Thats why when its not cold i dont have doors!

Over 30 grand for a vehicle and I am supposed to just "live with it" getting scratched up because it's not supposed to be a luxury vehicle? I want my Jeep to be very capable offroad and on. I also want it to look good and keep me comfortable too.

BTW... I've been kicking those door pockets since the first time I got in the Jeep.

I swear some jeep owners have battered wife syndrom. No matter what major flaws jeep throws at them they don't feel they deserve any better and they justify it and come running back for more. They have been making the jeep for over 50yrs, its not that hard to design a durable plastic material and door pockets that don't trip you on the way into the driver's seat.

Has anyone tried taking them off and painting them with some satin clear coat to add a layer of protection?

Dude if you knew me you would know this is my first jeep. That said it is an offroad vehicle and not my first. Sooner or later all vehicles driven offroad show the beatings we give them. Personally I have had my top and doors off in the rain, gotten in with mud all over me, and a whole lot of other things in the past year. I did not expect my jeep to look new forever and would be sad if it did because that would mean I was not using it properly. That said I take care of it and expect it to last like a jeep should. Not look new but last and run like that. As long as the quality is where it counts I can stand a few cuts in the cosmetic aspects because quite frankly they do not matter.

I don't give a crap what they look like, but can somebody please explain to me what they are for? In every other vehicle I have ever owned, I used the door pockets to store maps. Normally folded road maps will not fit in these useless pockets.
