Kudos to Advanced Adapters and WFO Concepts
I wouldn’t ordinarily start a topic on the forum mainly because of my busy schedule, but because this is a great forum with a lot of valuable information I felt compelled to contribute and give the members some information on Advanced Adapters customer service.
Several weeks ago I had a local shop (unnamed) install an Advanced Adapters Rubicrawler on my 6 month old 2009 Jeep JK. After the install I was experiencing an odd noise when reaching transmission temps of 160 degrees. Not only was there a problem with the install but the shop who installed the unit scratched the body on the Jeep and tore the driver’s side seat during the install. When I brought the jeep back to the shop who originally installed the Rubicrawler the mechanic said the gears were just seating in and the noise would eventually dissipate with time, but I was not convinced. The damage to the Jeep is still being worked out.
I contacted Advanced Adapter’s and spoke with Mike and Steve about the noise. They assisted me in trying to troubleshoot the problem in an attempt to isolate the noise. Initially they thought it might be the drive shaft, but there was some confusion because the jeep was new and had not made any noises before the Rubicrawler install. Both Steve and Mike were open minded and said the unit is fairly new but added they have not experienced problems like this on other Jeep installs including the Jeep they have been using with original production unit. They said they would brainstorm with their tech. In the mean time Steve scheduled me an appointment at WFO Concepts in Auburn CA, at no expense to isolate the problem or if necessary replace the unit. WFO Concepts is not the shop who originally installed the unit.
I contacted WFO Concept's shop owner Beau and he was very helpful and scheduled me to come in the very same day I called him. After Beau looked at the Jeep he thought it might be a gear lash problem; however, after some examination and several phone calls to Advanced Adapters it was discovered the Rubicrawler was clocked wrong by the first shop, causing undue stress and heat to the front drive shaft.
Beau at WFO Concepts re-clocked the Rubicrawler and just for good measure he suggested I have a new front drive shaft installed, which I was going to have done eventually anyway because of the 3 ½ inch lift kit. The noise is now gone and the Jeep is a pleasure to drive.
The Rubicrawler is an engineering marvel and is an awesome piece of equipment to add to your Jeep. The Rubicrawler adds a lot of latitude to the gearing options and lowest of the two low gears brings the Jeep to a very slow crawl.
I have purchased a lot of equipment for my Jeep and have experienced some horrible customer service from some companies which is surprising in and of itself with the poor economy, but I am EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with Advanced Adapters outstanding customer service.
I also want to convey my thanks to WFO Concepts in Auburn CA for their outstanding work and assistance in getting the problems taken care of.
