Makes sense if you think about it, there is the liability that it could come off and cause damage to a vehicle. I know if they are mounted correctly there is very little chance of it happening, but if someone was lazy and only did 2 or so mounting points you could see it becoming a projectile.

Regardless of legality, how would it ever affect you? Inspections? No one in MD would ever know you had bead locks. I doubt a mechanic would even pick up on it in a sale inspection.

i live in virginia and a police officer has told me how cool my beadlocks were... he knew they were there but i didnt get a ticket or anything. i live in virginia by the way.

The problem with the beadlock ring coming off has nothing to do with
damaging another vehicle. A true beadlock retains the outer bead of the tire to the wheel, so if the ring comes off, so does the outer bead of the tire
. With nothing retaining the tire to the wheel, it obviously goes flat instantaneously and you crash. That's why they are illegal. I am a Rhode Island state inspector, and they are very clear that it is illegal here.
