Question Lifetime Powertrain Limited Warranty

Just got a mailer from my dealer:

Dear myfirstjeep

The best warranty in the business is here- the Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Limited Warranty. And as a new owner you can give your 2007 Jeep Wrangler this extraordinary coverage at a special discount from Chrysler Service contracts. ..........................
Sincerely
Service Manager

What do you guys think? Is it even worth checking out the price? Also mentions "Non-transferable" in the fine print.........is this the case with 2008 JK's too? Non-transferable? Will you? Wont you? and why? please vote....

Thanks

I voted NO. I think it's a waste of money. It only covers manufacturer's defects which typically show up in the 3 year warranty period that is standard. I also plan on modifying my vehicle and this will lead to no warranty work in my area. I promise you when it's time to use it the dealer/Chrysler will say they can't do anything under the warranty either because of it breaking due to normal wear conditions or as a result of a modification whether that is the case or not. You can state the M&M act all you want but it's not going to get you anywhere when it comes down to it. Plus I would rather gamble that a 900 dollar part won't break than pay the 900 up front. My .02

I voted no.

If I had to buy it, I prolly (yes, I said ''prolly":toung: ) wouldn't. I don't have to make this choice because its included in my purchase.

So after 150,000 miles if my engine dies, it's not covered if they don't think it's a manufacturers defect?? That sux.

You have to take it to a dealer every five years for a free inspection to keep it in effect.

It's on all new 2008 models standard and yes, you have to take it in every 5 years. Dealer said it's about a 20 minute inspection. Also, if you skip 1 time the warranty is over.

I don't think I would get it period. But thats just me, I'm going to swap out for a V8 one day. And the less I'm at the dealership the better. I hate other people touching my Jeep.

what about what it covers thought, if i decided to finally keep a vehicle for a while, and put 250,000 miles on the wrangler, and the engine finally dies, is that a repair covered under the warranty, new gasket, seals, or whatever? or is that considered wear and tear.
