Default Lift kits and tire sizes

It's bought my first jeep a few months ago and wanna lift it and put some nice, meaty tires on it. I have my rims picked out, and a pretty decent idea of what tires I want. My dilemma now is how much of a lift to get and the size of tire I want. Is a 2.5" lift running 35"s sufficient for wheeling in not too crazy spots or should I go higher? Any and all input would be appreciated, thanks

2.5 or 3"should be more than enough. It you already have tires and wheels picked out just make sure you have the correct backspacing and you'll be golden. Happy Jeeping!
