Yes, BLD is part of the traction control system of all JKs, not sure why they eliminated the LSD on the JK Rubi, but just must have felt it was unnecessary now.

My guess is that they don't have room for both in the diff. so if the Rubi comes with a locker it can't also come with a LSD.

In reality how often are lockers actually needed? Has anyone been stuck with their JK on a trail due to not having lockers?
Or has someone actually compared a Rubicon against an X or Sahara since they all have Brake Lock Differentials .

It is true the locker is more useful off-road, but the LSD is active on-road as well (lockers not). The TJ Rubicons had the lockers and the LSD, which would offer maximum traction in all situations. My guess is with the BLDs now in the JK, the need for the LSD was not as great, and as mentioned there may have been a space issue as well.

Since my X has LSD, does that mean it's gonna be hallucinating?

No, I just want to start a discussion on what the capability of a Jk was without lockers and should we be changing our way of thinking due to technology catching up and providing similar functionality without the drawbacks.

I have LSD's on my X and everybody thinks I am locked becuase all 4 tires spin. I live in "flat" florida so I didn't feel the need to spend the extra $$ on lockers. LSD does fine in mud and the dry, soft washouts we have in florida.

What I mean mean by maximum traction is including on-road situations, in which lockers would not be utilized. So having a LSD in 4HI on-road with the locker off would in fact be "maximum traction" (for a TJ sans BLDs). In off-road situations obviously the locker(s) would provide "maximum traction". In the JK, the BLDs/traction control would pick-up the slack in on-road situations where lockers are not used.

The LSD is only in the rear, so when you see both front tires in action that is your BLDs operating.
