Did you buy new or used? Maybe it was aftermarket installed by the previous owner. Rubicons have stronger front axles, lower gearing, swaybar diconnects and front and rear selectable lockers.

A rear locker and e disco was an option available in lower models for a period of time. There are plenty of other differences that I'm sure you could find with a quick google search. I'm from the same town as you bud.

This is true. Nearly impossible to get, but a few were made.

He may very well have the same gears as a Rubi. I did in my X (4.10s came with tow pkg).

Like stated above - the D44 axles front and rear plus lockers and the Swaybar diskko you have. The transfer case on the Rubicon is geared lower at 4/1. And least we forget the rock rails.

We bought the JK brand new from a Jeep Dealership in Golden Colorado had 100 miles on it dark green in color. It came with the factory installed rear locker and sway bar dis-connect, I was just curious about any other differences
I've since added a 2.5" budget boost from Terraflex, a Garvin expedition roof rack with ladder, 285,70x17 Firestone destination AT's mounted on all black Procomp 17" wheels. I also added Orfab rock rails. Next will be new terra flex springs and shocks, and maybe a new front bumper.

and it seems like different front axles and Lower gearing are about the only differences. How can I tell what gearing I have on the jeep.

Get the tires in the air, spin tire and count driveshaft rotations.

For your '07 the only two ratios available on non-Rubicons were 3.21 and 4.10.
4.10 was optional on the 6 speed, and required on the automatic. (In both cases, independent of the tow package.)

That changed in '08. 4.10 became available on the Rubicon only.
