This is a GOOD thing. I'm not a Nardelli fanboy by all means, but this guy just might be he right guy at the right time for C.
At HomeDepot where he was CEO for I think just less than 7 years, he doubled the size of the business. No doubt there were big problems with his compensation package and his leadership at the end, but there were/are also big problems in the home building market that are impacting HomeDepot's profitability as well.
After the $ scandal, I imagine he's pretty anxious to rebuild his reputation, so I can see him being pretty gung-ho and making a bunch of positive changes. If C can ride him back to a good position, then replace him with a more level headed long term strategy type CEO, there just might be hope.
But I, like you, worry about changes that hurt the Jeep line. Jeep is so trenched in history, and that is why it is a classic American icon, so hopefully it will have some protection from any wildness.
Just my $.02.
