Lookin to the future
I figured id post this just get some ideas. Now me and my wife love exploring back roads. I did have a f 150 till had to sell tore up 4 wheeling. But been wanting a 4 door jk since went off roading with one. Now they have a good after market for parts so i could open a mag and get a part if i want witch is real apeling. Looking at videos online seems theyll go anywhere when built right. Now id like a manual but dont know how to drive a manual. So what would be a good desician manual or auto. Rubicon model or not. Basicly i just want to hear what everyone says about havin a jeep and what not.
Never owned a manual before my jk, I did under stand the concept from motorcycles, tractors, and atv's. Took me about a weekend to feel comfortable, don't think I'll ever buy another auto love having ability to select my gears.

If you are just running back roads and hitting some trails any version JK will do for your needs. If you can afford it, the Rubicon is quite tough and very, very capable right out of the showroom and doesn't really need anything it should more than meet your needs. Personally I would not have the automatic and would encourage anyone to get a manual. Can you ride / drive a motorcycle or other manual shift vehicle? If so you will have little trouble transitioning to a manual Jeep or car. Even if you are completely new to manuals it is easier than you think and they are a blast to drive!
Good luck and welcome to the forum!
