Lookin at a jku rubi from Nebraska
2014 with light rust in various areas on undercarriage.
Question is?? Can the rust be handled before it becomes an issue? Poss thorough rinse n wash n treatment options???
Any help would be appreciated 😁
Thanks.

I don't now about what you can do but if it only has light rust then that is really good in my opinion. My 2012 looked 10 years old underneath after less than 2 years on the road! I've read how the fluid film type treatments can work even if rusted but I don't have any experience using them.

Pics?

If it is just surface rust, on the frame, steering, suspension, or skids, it can likely just be touched up, with a little sanding and/or rust treatment chemical, and then rattled can primed and painted. If it is on the body, that is another issue.

I bought my 2012 brand new. After not too long, the seams in the gas tank skid plate had significant rust. Just recently I sprayed the entire undercarriage with POR15. It basically is paint that stops existing rust from getting worse and prevents new rust from forming. I used a $15 gravity sprayer from harbor freight. I put all for corners on jack stands and removed the wheels so I could do a better job spraying. I also put it into 4lo while on the jack stands and painted the drive shafts as they were spinning. It now looks fantastic underneath.

A coworker is using the fluid film on his. I think you have to reapply that each year.
