the Universal Putz Squad can lose anything.
Fedex lost my Apartment building at my old place. I WAS ACROSS THE STREET, DIRECTLY ACROSS THE ROAD FROM THEIR DAMN DRIVEWAY, and they couldn't find the building. Unfreakinbelievable.

I feel for you. UPS lost one of my Rock rails. It took them a few days to locate it. Somehow it got set off to the side and "missed" The box was beat to hell too
But they did refund my shipping, thanks to Kenny at River Raider pushing the issue. He was calling them about 5 times a day until they found it
Keep hounding them and good luck!

Stay on them. Call whoever you bought it from and have them do a tracer to start a claim. If they don't find it in whatever warehouse it was last scanned at they will refund the people you bought it from and they can send you another one.
about a month ago, UPS lost my D44 axle housing!!! the tracking showed that it arrived in Nashville (about 40 miles from me) then it just disappeared from there.
the shipper put a tracer on it and UPS still couldn't find it.
i wonder the same thing - how the hell do you lose something that weighs 100lbs and is as big as an axle housing???!!!
mine was a rear housing. was yours a front? there is probably some UPS employee who now has a new set of axles for their jeep.

Humans are a very small part of the handling equation.
The equipment is usually built and maintained by the lowest paid workforces available, and the operations people wouldn't have a clue if it was an axle or bumper that flew out of it's packaging after flying off a diverter chute and landed on them.
To make a long story short once a part is separated from the UPC barcode on it's damaged packaging good luck finding it unless you search the place yourself.
On a side note FedEx and Purolator in Canada are Unionized and very competant.
