Lost a set of keys in the dash
I tossed a set of keys on the dash of our JK and they fell down the slot in front of the dash and behind the windshield on the driver’s side. Luckily they were not for the JK. They are an important set of keys though and I need to retrieve them somehow.
We tried using a coat hanger and felt them moving around for a while but then they disappeared. I have taken the left side panel off of the dash as well as the two panels below the steering wheel. Still can’t see them or find them with the coat hanger. I think that they are still up high and somewhere in front of the steering column.
4-5 hours of off-road driving did not dislodge them yesterday.
Are there any other portions of the dash that are easily removable that may help us find the keys? Any other suggestions?

Yeah, I was thinking one of those magnetic bendy things might work. I don't have one though and we are traveling in a motorhome with the Jeep. The keys to the motorhome are what I lost in the dash. My wife has a set but we really need to have two sets.
I will try and find one of those magnetic “picker uppers” when we get to a bigger town. I was really hoping that they would just fall to the floor when we were out on Jeep trails yesterday.

The Ridgid Microcam would work great for this. It is a handheld color LCD camera with a 36 in flexible rod. Comes with a magnet, hook, and mirror on the end with the camera head. I bought four of these for my service trucks (plumbing) and they are great. Cost about $200 dollars each. A little much money just to fetch your keys, but you would be the coolest kid on your block
You can get them from Brock Tool and supply in Baltimore Md. Good luck.

I would just stick a mirror up there before i went through the hassle of dropping the windshield. Does your wife have a compact with her? they are good for alot of things besides makeup. you can use it to look up from the bottom too just shine a flashlight into the mirror while holding it down there to have a look around. ~Easier thane contorting yourself into the footwell. (dont get caught looking up her dress though
