Default Low Fuel

The other day I was driving and getting low on fuel. I was quite far from a gas station so I started to watch the "miles to empty" gauge. I was not thrilled when it switched from showing miles to empty to blinking "low fuel"

Yeah .. no effin kidding, I know I am low on fuel .. .I want to know approx how many miles until I have to push ... Is there any way to override this feature?

dont know of an override but it usually comes on with 30-35mi to go, not that I would drive anywhere near that far, I wouldnt say its accurate.

FWIW, the Patriot has the same issue, and I haven't found a work around.

I found that the light comes on when there is still a decent amount of fuel left, which kind of defeats the purpose. I usually have a good 30-40 miles left in the tank by the time that light comes on. Not sure how much left in the JK when it comes on but I imagine it still comes on relatively early.

I have had the same problem. I venture a guess that below 30ish miles it is hard to be acurate. With a little amount of gas slooshing around it would hard for the sensor to get an acurate reading.

Probably true .. but my other car has it. I also realize it comes on with plenty of fuel left .. but I would like to know when I'm down to 2-5 mi .. then I'll get concerned

When I bought mine the light was on. The salesman gave me a voucher and sent me up the road to the nearest gas station. I put 22 gallons in it. Once it hit 18 gallons I got the manual out to check the capacity. I told him he almost came and got me once I got back with the voucher. We had a good laugh, then I left.

JKs have a 20 gallon tank, when low-on-fuel light on mine comes on and I refuel, I get maximum of 18 gallons in. At the rate of 12mpg (mods make the mpg suck) I'm only going 24 miles before being stranded...
