Default lug caps broken

So let me know if anyone has experienced this:

i went to put my summer tires back on and 7 of the caps on the lug nuts broke off while i was unscrewing them using the factory tire iron.

and when i removed the caps, the lug nut itself was corroded insde. i got them changed at chrysler under warranty but even the guy at the dealership was shaking his head in disbelief. i know companies now are trying to save money with cheaper parts but i think this is too much. it's probably gonna happen again and i'll just keep changing them, but when my warranty expires, i'll have to buy my own.

if it happens again i'll repost and take pictures this time.

Same thing happened to me with 3 caps. Dealer would not replace them and blamed the tire shop. Admittedly, that's probably where they got broken but the parts are crap.

Will probably replace with something solid.

The same thing happened on my XJ with the same kind of lug nuts.

On my JK, I put silicone seal in the gap between the nut and the cover.
Not problems with them yet.

they shouldn't blame it on the tire shop, because i took my lug nuts off myself with my own strength, no impact drill or nothing, and they broke. they are just really bad quality like you said, probably made in china! i just think your dealership found an excuse not to give you new ones .

Might as well do it now. Once they don't cover them, it's too late.

These lug nuts have been junk since I've been around Jeeps. I have tried gluing the caps back on but that only lasts for so long.

The ones on my JK started coming off after the first tire rotation. I just got a set of gorilla lug nuts to replace them. It would have been more expensive to replace the 15 or so that are now missing caps.
