Unhappy Manual Transmission starter issuse

Hey guys, I have the manual Tranny - X, and every now and then when I go to start, it will take 2-5 seconds just sounding like it really wants to start, but then it will start up just fine... It is very random, sometimes at night, sometimes after it has been sitting for a day or two and then sometimes after I just shut it off five minutes before. It has been doing this since I got it two months ago but I am taking it to the Dealer this Thursday, And I will have to get a rental, I swear if they put me in a ford Focus..., But I will keep you updated on this, as soon as I get my Jeep back. I hope it is just my Jeep and I hope it is an easy fix or whatever, but I will update when I learn somthing new...

Unhappy Sadly...

I bought the extended warranty... Stupid me... If I had know you can't lift your Jeep without voiding the exteneded warranty I never would have bought it, Ah well, at least I get a "free" rental. I paid for the warranty, so technically it isn't a "free" rental... I'll keep my fingers crossed....

Unhappy Got it back...

Well they didn't fix it... He told me that they couldn't find out what was wrong with it but they flashed the system... I told him that I would be back when my starter went out ...I haven't had it for more than a day now, so I will have to see if it occurs less... I hope... -Captain

i don't know if james76 has a manual or auto, but it sounds like the same starting issue he's been having. i think he just brought it to the dealership.

I've had it happen a half dozen times, I'd say. the first time was right after i installed my stereo, about a month ago. It's been a little sporadic since then. I have the manual too, and like you said, there's no real pattern I could find to it.

I've kind of just shrugged it off. Doesn't seem like it's mechanical, so I'm not worried about breaking something. At this point, I think it's electrical, maybe the fuel pump not kicking in right away? Or maybe the system not recognizing the sentry key right away??? I'm just going to hold off taking it in, until either it happens more often, if I can find the pattern, or if it fails to start at all some day. Otherwise, I"m sure they'll do the same for me, and send me on my way with a reflash...

Same thing happens to me randomly. There is no "flash" for the computer. I think they may have just told you that to make you think they tried something. No resolution for this problem that I've seen yet.

Mine does the same thing. Hesitant start...sounds like a typical Moper product in my opinion. I just shrug it off...
