Guys it sucks. I might be haven to give up my JK. My wife...and myslef feel that my 2door is not the best family car. And due to money I can not find a 4door to buy. i am thinking of going to a comander...Wanted tos ee what everyones thoughts were on it?

 

if you can afford a Commander, you can afford a JK 4dr... dude, come on !!!!

You'll be waving at us in your commander and we won't wave back... Well... I would but most won't...
Sometimes when I drive another car, I wave and then remember... Oooops.... I'm not in my Jeep... LOL

 

Know what you mean do the same in my wifes car. There are a feww used comanders here that are good prices, but 4door jk's are the same price used as new...Lik.. I paid 16,500 for my JK last yr it is an 07 2 door x...there is a lot here in town with an 08 2 door x for 22K with more miles than my jeep has...WTF. Most 4doors here are around 24K used and 28K New. 07 and 08 comanders are around 18-19K.

 

Keep looking for a four door JK! I picked up my '07 4dr Rubi here in North Bama with around 20,000 miles just last April for just shy of 23K after taxes.
I am sure you can find an '07 or '08 X somewhere close by for what you would pay for a Commander .............

I feel your pain. It is easier to find the Commanders cheaper but keep looking, a 4dr JK is out there! Check all of the internet sites (ebay, autotrader.com, cars.com, etc) I found my JK like that last year, took a one-way flight and drove it home! Good Luck!

 

Are you willing to go for a road trip to pick up the JK out of state??? You maybe able to find a JKU cheaper out state???

 

I would drive half way across the country rather than buy the Commander...

my sister has a commander and they suck offroad...i put a mlid lift on it and it is just too top heavy...i am here in texas and thier are some 09 4 doors floating around but they are expensive...thier was a black 4 door rubicon when i went to the stealership to get my seats looked at, and they wanted $37,000.00 for it...i asked the general manager why they were so expensive ..his quote was they are so in demand due to the customers trying to buy them thinking that jeep is not going to make them anymore....thats what he told me..then he offered me $3000.00
over what i paid for my rubi..to sell it to him...he says that he can make at least $6000.00 more off my rubicon...but i wont sell my jeep ....

 

You can buy a used commander for a lot cheaper.

They aren't all bad, they drive nice and have a very comfortable interior. Just don't get the 3.7l. They're slow and you won't see much of a difference in economy between the 3.7l and the 4.7l.

I drove a 4.7l Limited 4wd Commander for a week when my old WJ was in the shop getting a new BCM. They didn't know what was wrong with it and then the had to order a part... Anyway, I started to like it a lot. When I went to work for our dealership group corporate, they had several of them as fleet vehicles. They were very comfortable on road trips.

Get at least an X model V8 or a Limited. The base models suck IMO.

 

I love my Jeep and my wife loves her Element or H.5 I call it. Anyway we take hers most of the time if the kid's are with us. If it wasn't for her haveing that I'd be in the same spot.

Anyway best of luck, and I agree that you could probably find a good deal on a 4door even if the comander is cheaper the payments want be much different.
