Default Mesh or Solid Bikini top?

Well, it is cooking here in Revelstoke and yesterday out cruising with the family in the JK top down. Wow that is the cats meow!!!!

Well, the only drawback was my kids were just roasting in the backseat with sunscreen and hats.....So, I am looking at getting a Bikini Top for the JK.

Will the MESH bikini top from Bestop help reduce the heat and UV rays for my kids and myself?

Or should I be looking at the Solid Diamond Bikini top from Bestop???

I like that the mesh will still allow you to see outside and will breath more than the solid top. However, I am more interested in sun protection for my kids. Will the Mesh protect just as much as the Solid Top??

i would go with solid... i use it primarily to ride doorless and keep the sun off... but by chance if you hit a spot shower at work or being parked, the mesh will do no good

The Mesh is just that mesh meaning there are holes for the UV to get through just like air. Now this does not mean it does not reduce UV rays and such but it is not solid and will not reduce them like the solid one will. As was mentioned only the solid will provide shower protection and BELIEVE me when I say the kids getting wet and cold will make you miserable. I also find I get about the same airflow witht he solid as I do with the top off (assuming the doors are off) due to the deflection from the windshield. If the doors are on I would imagine the mesh would be better although there is a good bit of airflow especially in the back seat. Up front you might want the ac on.

I used a solid bikini in my TJ, helped cool things down a lot and helped keep the top of head from getting sun burned
It also worked in a pinch when the rain suprises you. Amazing the amount of water that thing would hold.

The mesh seems kind of pointless to me. It doesn't stop water or sunlight and just sits up there flapping in the wind.. . . . .
