Leaf springs for towing capacity I believe.

Interior is bare, no carpet, no amenities, nada....

HOLY HELL! I can't imagine how bad that MUTT would rock with that Mk19 rocking away...that's a freakin automatic 40mm GRENADE launcher. It rocks the hell out of a UA HMMWV.

Never mind... found it.

The M151 MUTT was developed by Ford in conjunction with the US Army Automotive Command. It used substantially different running gear (unibody construction with independent front and rear suspension) than any Willys Jeep. About the only involvement “Jeep” had with the M151 is that Kaiser-Jeep, the undead Willys Overland in holding got a license for some of the production run.
