Default is this mod worth it

i am debating putting a gobi rack on my jk. The fact is it will look sick, but there is a catch. it means the jeep will no longer fit into my carport - meaning i will have to store the jeep in the street. I live in norther cali so the most weather it will see is rain. is there going to be that much more wear and tear on the jeep from parking it in the street vs undercover? i really like the gobi but dont want to damage the jeep long term.

here are some pics. i think the rack would make it look pretty nice.

I live in Orlando and my jk gets POURED on every single day. Rain won't hurt it a bit. Go with the rack, anything to make your rig look better is worth it.

I wouldn't get it if it was always going to be in the elements. I would rather want to be able to keep it sheltered rather than have a gobi

I agree...Don't get the rack and park it under the carport.

The real question...are you wanting the gobi purely for looks are will you actually use it? If it is just for looks, don't get it and park under the carport...your paint will thank you later. If you will really use it and have a need for it, then go for it.

idk how much use youl get out of it but get it. if you need it throw it on and when you dont need it take it off. do you really need it on there everyday or just when you go camping or wheeling or what ever the reason you said you needed it. just get something that is simple to throw on and off as needed, thats my advise im getting to that crossroad also and i think thats what im going to do. hope it helps

Agreed! That's a lot of cash for something that looks cool. If you want lights get a C.A.R.R. Roto-Bar. You can rotate it forward for clearance. Good on the trails too!

Don't do it, putting weight on top of a jeep will increase the pucker power about 10x when you go off camber.

I didn't do the gobi I did the Kargo. I put my bikes n kayaks up there. I will say this parking garages become limits I needed a 7'2 clearance. It did look bad ass! I used it. It cost me 2 mpgs. It was a 3rd the cost of the gobi all outfitted. You will also be limited when you want to go topless and or freedom panel less. You can do it but it is a pain and you end up nicking panels. Just my 2 cents! It will look bad ass though!
