Default Mopar part prices (why so high) ?

Looking for some reason why Mopar parts are so expensive compared to quality aftermarket prices.

Because they can and people will pay, especially for minor bits and pieces that are difficult to find elsewhere. If you need something in particular, search/ask around because there's a good chance someone can offer a cheaper alternative. If all else fails and it's a "dealer-only" part, check with Wyckoff Parts, a forum sponsor. Their prices, even with shipping, still beat my local dealer significantly.

Dealers make most of their $ on parts and service.

My girlfriends father owns a dealership and they actually don't raise the costs that much on performance products.
A cold air intake sells for $330 and I got it at cost for $307.
I am sure there are other intakes that are slightly better for $300 bucks but if I ever have a problem with the warrenty,
they won't give me a hassel with official Mopar products, so thats why I did it.

Yeah, but the little plastic clip that holds the fenders in place goes for about $5-7 each, depending on the dealership. And I bought an entire box of them, 15 each, for less than $10 from an online supply store.

I guess it depends on the part....guess you just have to be a smart online shopper?!
Whatever the case, the more money you save, the more your just gonna spend on another part......haha am I right?

Every company needs to make money to stay in business. Dealers have a huge overhead. Many online aftermarket parts sellers don't. They ship straight from the factory. This allows them to give bigger discounts.

That's funny because I was told that even if I had a mopar lift installed by the dealer that it would still void my warranty... Girlfriends dad or not it still a dealer.

Yes, but it would be nice if they don't try to make all that overhead back on the sale of just one of these plastic clips for as much as $8 ...
