Now it gets interesting! If only that photographer had a magnet with him, we might be able to tell if they were in fact testing an aluminum body.

Given a recent thread on here about the Wrangler's competition, C&D listed the following vehicles as being "competitors" to the upcoming Wrangler:

Competition: Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Subaru Forester, Toyota Tacoma.

(Grumbling under my breath: I don't think so...)

I've got my down ready if the zr2 hits the lot.

Already told the local dealer I'll be there when they pull up, and I'll pick it right there. Chances are good it won't happen when they say but I like it a lot.

Still keeping the jeep of course.

From an overlanding perspective, the GM pick-ups and the Tacoma could be excellent platforms. Indeed, the Tacoma already has a reputation around the world because of its ubiquity. But, for rock crawling, that niche has been pretty much ceded to Jeep Wrangler. However, with the four door, Wrangler moved from the rock crawling community into the overlanding community, strengthening their sales much beyond their wildest dreams, I suspect. I hope that they are looking over the shoulders at GM and Toyota (and maybe a couple other new arrivals to our shores, like LR Defender)--It means better choices for us, including better Jeeps.

Admittedly sweet; and probably one of the closer vehicles to the offroad capability of a Wrangler, but still not really in the same class as a Jeep.

I was more irked-off by C&D's suggestion that the Forester is a direct competitor of the Wrangler. They're hallucinating.

The one rear-axle shot of the new suspension appears to depict a Chrysler 9.25" rear axle. Does anyone else see that?

Yeah I'm hoping they do come out with it as well, I'm ready to buy one too. And of course I'll definitely be keeping my jeep

None of the vehicles mentioned are in the Wrangler niche ; removable top ? Doors ? Short wheel base ? I don't mention fold-down windshield , as that may be discontinued.
Jeep Wrangler Heritage ?
The truck types mentioned are a separate class altogether . Not " Wrangler"

the new ford raptor looks decent for offroad too. probably too wide tho for some trails, but probably capable enough.
