MT's to AT's (?)
I am planning on going to BFG A/Ts when I need to replace the stock M/T rubber. The M/Ts did great off-road in Idaho, but I had the A/Ts on my old chevy truck and they were a stiffer compound and seem to have lasted longer...the M/T seem to be wearing fast.
I am running the bfg a/t's..they are 285/70/r17 on my rubicon...i run alot on the pavement, due to my jk is my daily driver...its been pulling double duty ..i run alot of sand and dirt,a little mud once and awhile.we dont have much rock out here in south texas .so i cant tell you how they do in the rocks.
.they wear very slowly and are quiet on the pavement...some people dont like them in the mud because they dont clean real good, but i always throw some black magic tire shine on the treads and the bottom of the wheel wells and it throws the mud off just as good as an mt..
.plus they help your gas mileage..
lock and crawl.

I have run AT's and went to MT's.....I won't go back to AT's, I love the aggressive look of MT's and work well with my terrain. If you go with a MT be sure you get a good set of Tires....I would recommend Toyo MT...awesome wearing, quiet, stiff sidewall and great traction!
Based on your usage (that should be the main consideration right?), I would go with ATs. I've had BFG ATs, BFG MTs and Procomp MTs. The ATs wear so much better. The MTs I have now are like riding on a gravel road everywhere I go. Even on freshly paved streets. Sure, there were things I could have done to help prevent that but I didn't do anything special for my ATs and they wore great. True, the ATs didn't do that great in the mud and I was not a stranger to getting winched out of deep holes but overall, they were a great tire. I"m going back to ATs as soon as I make a decent commission check.
