Default must to mods/tricks

So I'm a new Jeep owner (woot) and was wondering. What are everyones favorite free/cheap/must do mods once getting your JK. I'm not talking lifts or tires or things of that nature. Just little things that have either increased the function, or driveability of your Jeep? I'm open to all suggestion I'm all ears.

I would check out the grill(sic) mod thread. That will definitely help your radiator from being bashed and rocked chipped up!

I see you have the Sahara, so since do not have the electronic sway bar disconnects, I would highly recommend investing in front quick-discos or making your own.

I, among others, made quick discos out of the stock ones for under $13.00. The difference on the trail when disconnected is night and day. More traction, tires stay on the ground, and the Jeep feels WAY more stable and level. That was the biggest bang for the buck that I have found so far. My Jeep is way more capable when disconnected than not. HUGE difference.

the drilled mirror mod is pretty helpful if you plan on washing your JK... it'll keep your doors from looking like crap...

and if you're not of the Jeep-washing persuasion, this will also help the crud you drive through drain out of your mirrors...

Bedlining the inside of the Freedom Top was the one I liked best. Really disliked all that white...

But if you're looking for little nickle and dime parts to add here's a couple.

1.) DayStar Upper Dash Panel. Give you a place for your cellphone and you glasses. (note cellphone may temporarially interfear with compass)

2.) Grab handles. If you have the 4 door then a set of $20 grab handles for the back are priceless.

MOPAR slush mats
MOPAR door sill guards
Front and rear grab handles
Fire Extinguisher
CB radio (I got a portable one off Ebay for about $35)
Windshield mounted driving lights < $100
A plastic storage bin for the cargo area for tools and other stuff
You can also add/remove decals and factory badges to suit your taste
Tow strap (looped ends, no hooks)
Mag Light or other means of nighttime illumination

Two 11" zip-ties on your hood latches will stop it from dancing. If you haven't seen it dance yet, do this mod anyway--lest you first see it while in the middle of a 1500-mile trip to Moab and it scares you and your family out of their wits.

Another cheap mod is the blinker mod. This will make your fender marker light blink when that side's turn signal is activated.

Marker Light Mod

Another cheap mod that I like is the grill Jeep emblem mod: Pull it off!

(NOTE: Photo shot by High Roller)

I also pulled off the X decal once I felt I had enough mods such that it was no longer "just an X," and then added JK-Forum stickers I purchased through the site:
