went for a visit to my dealer today(in Sydney Australia)to get an update on my order.they tell me it will be soon and they recommend the rescue Green or red rock .But I have to see what colour they can get.All they can g tee it is a 2.8 litre deisel 6 speed.
Got onto the car registration web site today and ordered my license plates.
We can personalise what we want (for a Price,$90.00).
I was very suprised when my order was availiable and OK .

Nice plates. I'm sure any of us in the U.S. would swap you our gas engine for your diesel. Congrats!

I dont blame you.Diesel is the way to go.My company day car is a VW Jetta 2 litre Diesel and I get about 1000 k on a tank on the open road and around 900k around town and a tank is 55 litres.
The VW gos real well. The VW motor is in the little Dodge and the Jeep Patriot.
The diesel we will get in the JK is the VM 2.8 liter (euro4)177 hp @3800 and 410 nm at 2000-2600.
I believe that the Deisel will be coming back to the US in 2008.
The only thing they dont put the Deisel in is the Rubicon.

nice to hear that RHD's are being built then, still not available to order in the uk yet, jeep uk still trying to shift last of the previous two doors'. In fact they will only admit to the 4door existing if pressed.

My dealer tells me the only reason that they are building the RHD Wrangler is that bthe British wanted them .If they were only tobuild em for Aust it would not happen. You guys are getting a deisel but the motoring press here report thr UK is getting a 2 liter.

Yeah, US manufacturers are really trying to break the European market at the moment, unfortunately for them, that means building RHD's! The wrangler is a niche car here, but other jeeps sell pretty well so they bring the wrangler. It is a bit half hearted though, they tend to do no more than two or three colours and they will almost certainly limit the options available. The four door and general improvements will boost sales though.
OZ must be a good market for the wrangler though, certainly enough space for serious off roading, not like the uk, most mine will see is up my drive(!)
Haven't heard the 2ltr diesel, thought it was the 2.8 out of the cherokee (called liberty in u.s).
Diesel the way for me though.
Weird with car markets though, just read about the stunning Alfa 8c and apparently the vast majority of the RHd's are allocated to Aussieland and we won't be seing many at all.....there must be pots of money sloshing around down under to pull those kind of strings!!
