MyGig - WTF???
I have an 08 Jeep Green Sahara Unlimited with the MyGig unit in it. I know there have been some problems posted about MyGig but I think mine are a little extreme. My jeep has been in the dealership 8 times already and the unit has been replaced 3 times with the 4th on order. What happens is the radio freezes and I dont get any sound at all and I cant change any of the stations, the Navigation has me at least 40 miles away from where I currently truly am, and now the battery started dying. Like I said, they replaced it 3 times already and I keep having the same problem with each new unit and being I had to have my Jeep towed back to the dealership Tuesday with a dead battery, I am starting to think it is an electrical problem. I just filed for the Lemon Law but in all honesty do hope they could resolve it because I love my Jeep. If it comes down to a true lemon, I want them to replace my Jeep with one that looks exactly like mine. Have any of you experienced this much trouble with the MyGig or am I a rare case?
I've had issues with mine dying a few times, but it usually kicks on in a day or two... the last time, it was down for about a week I guess, and the battery was shot. Haven't had the issue since I got it boosted.
TommyG, I went the LL route with my 07 Unlimited due to a leaking roof. Rather than go to a LL attorney, contact Chrysler and ask to have a case manager assigned to your vehicle. The CM will review the issues with your service manager and if all appears to be as you say, Chrysler will buy back your Jeep and replace it.

call this number and have them call up your VIN and request a case manager. 800-992-1997. tell them you would prefer Chrysler make good on their product defect and you will not pursue filing a lemon law claim.
I do not have the mygig in my jeep simply because of all of the issues we are having with the mygig in our town and country.
The first two radios that we had had the same freezing issue as yours. Tyoically we could turn the car off and restart it and it would correct. Then it started not even doing that. These radios would not properly record any cd's being downloaded. The radio was replaced twice within the first 4 weeks of our ownership.
The third radio had this awful static in it. It sounded like a pick up truck being loaded with pea gravel. It was extremely loud and would last up to on minute after we would turn the radio off. I was convinced that this was electrical intereference, but they insisted that it was the radio. They did an update for the radio which intensified the issue.
The fourth, and current, radio in the vehicle will cut out to a blank screen where there is no audio, dvd, clock or back up camera. It is just as if there is no power being supplied to it. The issue will last about 45 minutes and the the screen flashes a few times and then fades in like an old tv would.
I now have the dealer in agreement with me that the radio is not the cause of the issues but rather an electrical short within the vehicle. I cannot see how four radios could all be bad when placed in the same vehicle. They have been "talking" to their regional rep about getting us out of the lease on the vehicle or swapping it for a different one.

Update on my LL Jeep - The letter had been delivered to Chrysler and tomorrow it goes in for it's last attempt to be fixed. They are replacing the radio, the antenna and giving the new MyGig unit the 30 latest updates. Hopefully this works. I will let you all know as time will tell.
