Need a meeting of the MINDS on something
I am trying to figure out a way to mount some sort of handle for the back seats down low enough for my 5 and 3 year old girls to grab onto to help pull themselves up into the JK. I have the grab handles on the sound bar but its needs to be alot lower. I was thinking somewhere on the side of the back seat down around the brackets or right there on the wheel well. Any suggestions, pics ideas anything would greatly be appricated. With all the great ideas that everyone has and shares I know we can get something done.
Thanks Andrew

Not quite sure what will work. Maybe a set attached to the seat base. What model do you have? 2 door 4 door? The side steps on the Sahara help my wife and girls but they are a lot bigger. Maybe you need a step as well as a handle. My only other suggestion is one of those outside the vehicle mounted grab bars/handles they put on trucks. Let me get a little more coffee and take a look at where I think you could mount something without damage/modifying anything and I will be better able to help.
EDIT: I looked at your pics so I knew a little better. You got a Sahara 4 door.

Still thinking. All I got so far is the same thing I used to help the kids climb a tree. A rope with knots in it tied to the front rear seat base mount. You grab it out to use as a handle of sorts and bring it in to close the door. I know that is too many things for a little one to do though. I was also thinking a velcro attached stirrup step to go around the side step to provide a lower foot hold then it can be removed for offroad use. It is not so much the need to pull up an issue with the little ones but the inability to even reach the step with a foot if I am not mistaken. This is one of those times a brainstorm trust would be handy. I will ask the wife if she has any ideas but I hope others read this and help out as well.
Teach them to hold onto the edge of the body at the door opening. I taught my 3 year old to climb into mine with a 3" lift and 35's, and now at 3 1/2 she can climb in with 4" lift and 37's. Good luck.

Redneck Concepts makes a stirrup step. Kids think it is cool. bolts to the floor inside, flip it out when you need it, flip it back in when your done.
I wouldnt want it, but it may help you out. Not sure about a handle at all, but a short strap of sorts or a rope with a knot in it, attached to the seatbase mounting would give a lower handhold.

Thanks guys. Now that you say all that its got me thinking. I have some
1" webbing that I could make a loop around the seat bracket and that will give them enough to get up. Thanks

My sister-in-law's hubby has really short legs....most 10 year olds probably have a larger inseam, so he had trouble getting into the Jeep even with the rock rails with the extra runner to step on, and the grab handles at all 4 doors.
His "solution" was to buy a little folding step (I gave him crap the entire trip about it...calling it his baby step), and then attach a longer string to it...he even had a little plastic ball on the end of the string which could be tossed up on the seat.. It could be stored under the back seat easy enough, and was light weight enough that a smaller kid could handle it. Think the cost of the thing was around $10-$15. The step would literally fold flat, yet was withstanding his weight (would guess easily 350+ pounds...so a kid....no problem)
He could get the step out, unfold it....hold on to the string (or toss it up on the seat)....climb up into the Jeep...and then use the string to pull the step up...which in doing so would fold the step flat. Wind the string, and put under the seat.
With two kids...might end up wanting two of them (one for each side). The nice thing about it was that it was not a permanent attachment thing...so now that he isn't riding in it...well I don't have anything extra attached that I don't want.
Not exactly what you might be looking for...but it did work out decent enough for him, and I could see this being duplicated easy enough for your kids too...and as they got older, and no longer needed it....well again, you would have nothing extra attached.
