My JK Sahara Unlimited will be delivered to me tomorrow.

I am driving from Reno to San Francisco on Friday night, returning Saturday night. It's approximately 220 miles each way.

I will only be able to get in about forty to fifty miles of in town driving before I hit the road on Friday.

Okay to take the JK on the long haul, or do I need to break it in with more road driving before I hit the freeway for a few hours?

Thoughts? Opinions?

 

It is probabbly a wives tale, but I would change the oil ASAP. Metal filings from a fresh engine can get into the oil supply. I changed mine as soon as I got home, I would suggest the same before taking a a trip like that. But it is probabbly all superstition.

 

You'll be fine. A lot of peple have to drive theirs that far just to get home from the dealership...

 

I put the first 150 miles on it from the dealer to the house. The only thing I would suggest is don't set the cruise control and vary your speed.
