New competition for next generation Wrangler?
Saw this article. Next generation Defender coming back to US.

While a different price point and a less volume, a little competition could be a good thing.

Looks like the Wrangler could have real competition especially considering Land Rover is bringing 2 Diesels to the Model...Did you hear that Fiat / Jeep -- they are bringing 2 Diesel options to the US...surely that means the Wrangler will get a least 1 with a manual transmission.
Best line in that entire article: "Buyers will be able to choose either a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic on all engines."
I hate when manufacturers penalize those Americans who enjoy driving instead of steering a car by offering the smaller engines only with the manual trans (and I say "Americans" because the rest of the world drives mostly manual transmissions!).

If it's built and performs ANYTHING like the Defender 90, it will absolutely be competition. And with Wrangler prices where they are, it will certainly be an option for those looking in the higher end.

I don't think it will be competition because of the price point. Its like saying the upcoming Mercedes G500 4x4 squared is also competition because it comes with 37s, portals, lockers, and a v8 right off the bat (and a six figure price tag)
