Default new engine coming to wrangler

Chrysler/Fiat in the second or third quarter of 010 will add the Pentastar V6 to the wrangler, for model year 2011 and in 010 wrangler will add the color dark charcoal pc. Ref: allpar.com

I didn't know the engine switch was confirmed. Don't see anything about it on allpar, except for the original time table that's been up for quite a while.

Do you have a link to this? While I think it's possible, my guess is that the Wrangler will be among the last to get the new engine, possibly not until the next re-design. I've read previously (also on Allpar) that the 3.8L has a life span lasting until 2013/2014, which indicates that it may be in the Wrangler still.

The new engine will debut in the new 2011 Grand Cherokee, which won't hit streets until the first half of 2010, I'd be shocked if the Wrangler got the engine in the same time frame. I guess it will depend on when the new engine plant is done, don't know what kind of capacity the current plant will have for the new Pentastar.

With all that has happened in the industry, and may still occur regarding CAFE it is hard to say how things might be advanced or delayed.

I think the allpar site was saying that the "Direct Injection" engine would be used in the Wrangler since the noise increase would be acceptable, but that the direct injection version of the engine would be introduced later. And that the 3.8 and 4.0 V6s would be used till 2013/14.

I've never seen anything on Allpar to confirm this and I check it all the time.

That is what I have read too. My guess if they are going to use the 3.8 until 2014, they are probably just going to wait the extra 2 years for the complete redesign to introduce the new engine.

http://www.allpar.com/model/upcoming.html

About half way down....3rd quarter 2010 as a 2011 model. After reading more about it, I kind of want it, but don't . Still like my pushrod motors, but more hp and better mileage i'm up for.

Only pisser is that they are getting rid of the yellow that I want. So do I get the yellow and motor that I know that I want or a different color and a motor that I might want.....going to have to stop at the credit union shortly.

I see it, but I don't believe it. Most of the time, Allpar is a pretty good source of info, but not always. At this point, its all speculation and they retract things like this all the time.
