Sounds like an opinion, and every does have one.... My opinion is if The one you have takes a crap why not replace it with something better....

Imho the steering stabilizer does make a big difference; not in routine driving around or off road much, when I notice my bilstein shocks and stabilizer is on the highway here in Cali.; many times the highway is going up and down and curving at the same time and all lanes are full of vehicles all doing 65-75; you really need a vehicle that's as stable as possible in those situations.

I agree completely with this. There is a difference. I live in rural OH. many of the roads I drive on have tire groves. A soft or low charged stabilizer will allow the wheels to turn more easily and walk around in these groves. Better stabilizers usually are charged to higher PSI and/or have tighter valving. This makes for heavier steering at low speeds but keeps the tires running straight when the road influences otherwise.

The stock stabilizer on the JKs is weak in my opinion, (not to mention poorly placed). I am planning to change this soon, and will watch for the release of Fox's new one.

Because a properly aligned suspension system doesn't even require a steering stabilizer.

Poorly placed? Yes. Weak? Absolutely not.

I changed my wife's stock stabilizer with the new one from TERAFLEX and the wheel shimmy stopped and the whole general looseness feel went away.
If they weren't needed then automakers wouldn't put them on. I'm getting tired of people say " a proper suspension shouldn't need one"... Too many parrots on these sites.
They do make a difference and should be used. Especially with larger tires

Absolutely agreed

The truth is even a perfectly set up suspension can benefit from a steering stabilizer. The stabilizer's job is to reduce road influences from turning into steering wonder. By road influences I mean pot holes, dips, and uneven pavement. If you always drive on perfect mall parking-lot pavement with your jeep and are okay with white knuckling the steering wheel at every little bump, then you don't have to worry about the quality, (or even the existence of you steering stabilizer). I on the other hand allow my jeep to see primitive roads. I also like to be able to hit a pot-hole and have the jeep track straight without the need of a major steering correction. For this I employ a quality steering STABILIZER... you know to "stabilize" the twitchy responses caused by real-world roads.

Okay..Okay, I'll get off my soap-box and apologize now for turning this thread into a little-bit of a pissing match on the need of a SS or not. The original post was an inquiry about the new Fox stabilizer. It would be nice to here about it...

Sadly, the rumored price for the new stabilizer ($369), if true, pretty much guarantees I'll never own one.

Has anyone seen or heard a different price?

That's absolutely ridiculous. It better come with a full lifetime warranty for that price
