New guy asking the dumb questions

I know. Im honestly swinging for the 2door Rubicon, but also kinda trying to keep from buying too much confidence with my first jeep. (I know how my mind works lol) and for me the fun of a jeep is making it what I need and want.
I had that 170 for a few years then started wanting more and got a hella nice aluminum head with a 2/4bbl manifold. Now I have a 200 with it. Nearly trippled the power and doubled the torque. Now it needs a transmission to hold up to the extra ponies. And a lot of attention over the next few years to get her where I envision her.

I have a 2012 2door Sport S, and I went back and forth a bit before buying. My advice is to drive both for awhile on roads that you normally drive and it will become apparent to you which way you should go. Obviously recommendations will be split according to personal preferences. My own conclusion was that I really liked driving the 2 door much more, at least on the roads I always cover. I wanted to like driving the JKU as much but just didn't. Opinions vary and really have to drive them both though. If you spend more time on the interstate you might feel differently than if you drove mostly on winding and hilly secondary roads or worse.
As to functionality, if you have a family you are hauling around that might definitely guide you to the the JKU. That isn't an issue for me, but if it is then four doors and the space are helpful. On my 2door, I removed the back seat altogether and it works out great for the dog back there.
Thinking about mods, one thing about the Rubi is that with things being factory, it probably helps resale vs modifying one of the the other models up to that level. If I were buying a JK used, I'd probably pay up more for the Rubi than another model similarly modded by the owner, no offense to anyone, because I know what I'd be getting.
For myself, I don't regret for one minute not getting a JKU or a Sahara in general, but I do sometimes wonder if I should have paid up for the Rubicon. When I see that you might be getting a new 2012 Rubi for the same price or less than I paid for my optioned 2door 2012 Sport, I think 'good for you'. And if in a few years if we compared resale, I bet you'd win.
But back to my original point, you really have to drive them.

By the way, I forgot to mention, if you do buy the Rubicon and decide to do some mods, it's not like getting the Rubicon to begin with was money wasted. As you can tell from these forums, us owners of other models will pay you good money for pretty much any Rubicon-specific component you take off. On the other hand there is always less demand for the comments that are coming off our own vehicles in the swap. If you do get the Rubicon and decide to start replacing things, keep your friends here in mind.

Well I went to the dealer last night after work. Test drove a couple 4 door sports. Went and found a 2 door I was looking at. We were about to drive it and Then I watched my dad and friend try to get into the back seat, It wasn't pretty. They both opted out of the test drive. I drove it around a little to get a head to head comparison, and there was virtually no difference between the two. I went over a bit in my head and ended up going for a dark cherry 4 door with a hard top, six speed, and premium sound. It just seemed like the most sensible option I had. Everything I need and then although I wanted to not have power options, I could more easily justify them on the 4 door.
Now I need to get it out and stretch it out a bit, I didn't buy it to crawl malls, I bought it to be a jeep and enjoy the paths less taken. And I want to enjoy it stock and upgrade it as needed, that way I don't waste my moneys on stupid stuff.
I'm still working on the hauling 4 doors question, but I'm looking at the Wild Boar roof rack, either for insperation, or a possible solution.
Pictures will come soon!!!

And Photos!!!
Kinda irritated the dealer didn't do any of the usual prep on my jeep (because I was there till around eight) So I'm likely going up there again monday or tuesday to get it detailed and all the tape residue removed and to get my tank topped off. Not that I expect my jeep to be the cleanest ride in the world, but I "paid" for porter work (included in the price) and got nothing more than the window sticker ripped off.
