Default New JK owner-simple question

Hello all! Just bought a new 2012 Sport S JKU and couldn't be happier!! The truck is so much nicer than my 97 TJ I can hardly believe it's a Jeep. Never drove the 07-11 but this new motor and trans is fantastic. I am having a hard time figuring out what gears are in it stock however. Been researching future mods (can't resist. Jeep bug bit me!) and trying to figure out what I may need. I've read that the 12 automatics have 3.73s in them but I don't see it anywhere on my window sticker. The only thing I can find on the sticker says it has 3.21 before the auto trans. The truck is a daily driver that I need to keep decent mileage from. Got almost 22mpg from a 300mi freeway trip!! How would I find out what gears are in my truck for sure? Thanks for the responses and love the sight! Lots of inspiration for my ride!

Sounds like your JEEP has 3.21s.

Hey I see nothing wrong with calling it a truck, I do that to mine all the time. Truth is its more of a truck than most the trucks on the road. How many trucks now days have solid front axles? And yeah prob has the 3.21s in it.

Seems like I read that the auto trans automatically gets 3.73s. Been a while since I researched so I may be wrong. Have the dealer run your VIN.

Default Your question is answered on Jeep.com

Transfer case is 2.72 and axles are 3.21 on the Sport and Sahara with a crawl ratio of 38.9:1

Not on the 2dr that's only if you get the tow package

The GP ("Jeep") was classed as a 1/4 ton truck when it was developed for WWII. Can't see where anything about the current design that would change that.

Sorry about the slip up calling it a truck! My 5 yr old corrected me the first time I said that at home too! I checked the link on jeep.com and it says that's with a manual trans. I have the 5 speed auto in mine hence the reason I'm trying to clarify. I've read in several places that the auto gets the 3.73 also. I'll give the dealer a call on Monday.

According to Jeep's 2012 "Build my own" site, the non-Rubicon 5 speed automatic can come with 3.21 or 3.73, unlike previous years.

It's not a car, SUV, or a truck. It's a Jeep, plain and simple. Congrats on your purchase! I would like to drive the 12, but I'm afraid I would like the 3.6 too much! I would say you have 3.73 axles with the auto, but get the dealer to find out for sure.
