I just can't get around the gas tank (rear passenger side) or the metal pan under the drivers feet. Any suggestions?
Oh those tubs will fill up. In fact so will the "trunk" even with the plug pulled as soon as the carpet and pad get saturated and only slowly drips water while it is still raining.

I guess that solves my problem. As soon as I ruin the carpet or it gets moldy, then, I'll just rip it all out and replace it with Rhino bed liner or Line-X or something.

What a great thread. Lots of ideas and advice about the doors, electrical connectors, drain plugs. Makes for a very good read. Thanks everyone for their contributions.

It has been said many times on many threads, but I agree, the combined knowledge and trouble-shooting of everyone sure makes things easier for all involved. I also want to thank everyone for their contributions, corrections, and input. I'll continue to post input if I think I can help.

Sidenote: had to put my doors on as my wife and I are heading out of town and the weather looks less than perfect. She doesn't like the doors off unless its warm and sunny. The red/orange clips on the doors are left (as you face them) to lock, and right to unlock. But Moun10eer already corrected this in his post. (He is a local to me who I have had the pleasure to meet, and a great guy, BTW.) So anyone new trying to unclip your door wiring, clip the red tab to the right before pushing the black tab in and pulling. Then it should come right off. After the first time, it worked for me just fine and is a cinch ever since (but sure took a while to figure out at first).

Default No Nuts??

In review some of the door/no-door threads, there was an interesting trend I noticed: a lot of you guys leave the nuts off the door when you're replacing them.

I would have thought that to be unsafe.

So, just out of curiosity, when are you guys replacing those nuts (or are you)?

Thanks.

Hmm. Replace them. I hadn't thought of replacing them. I just leave the original ones in the center console, ever since reading here they aren't needed. Honest, try taking a door off without first opening it a whole bunch. It can't lift up. Okay, I suppose that in a truly catastrophic crash one might so bend the sheet metal as to make it possible to remove a door without those nuts being in place. But, while I take reasonable precautions about things (wear seatbelt always, for example), I also don't consider for very long improbable possibilities. Else, I'd never drive on the roads with my doors off.

How so? I do put them back in for long periods of time because I think there may be a little play in the hinge pin without them that might in the distant future screw something up. As far as doors on today then off agian tommorow I never bother. Mainly they are to secure the doors from theft. Funny with the door closed and locked how do you steal them????

I think it is more for when you have the top off and doors on. someone could easily steal them then. Or with a soft top. ZZZZZZZZZip
