Default Noob question about suspension

Question about Rubi shocks and coils:

After 5 or 10 years, do the shocks get stiffer or softer?

After 5 or 10 years, do the coils get lower, softer, or lower and softer?

You ain't gonna get stiffer unless you use viagra.
I would think blow by gas/fluid leaking past the piston would make them softer.

I believe springs get softer and lower. Once again, that old age thing.

Rubber does get harder as it ages, but it deteriorates by flaking cracking.

I had a Rover, and after 10 year, my shocks wasn't lower; just very soft

Both tend to soften and the shocks will not work to stop the "bounce" .

After 5 or 10 years from now you better have the money saved up to upgrade your suspension into something with a little prowess.

Like what was already said, after a few years things will soften up. My buddies 03 TJ still has factory shocks and springs -- 6 years and still strong. I'm sure after 10 years you may want to upgrade or replace.
