Question Is this normal?

I had driven about 5 miles to my buddies house. Temp was about 85 F and humidity was 75%. After about 10 minutes he wanted to look at the engine. The hood and the prop that hold it up were so hot it almost burned my hand.

I would expect it to be like that after driving for hours in the heat, but after just a few minutes? Heat soak, maybe?

I've noted my engine seems to run hot too, but the temperature gauge is normal. Most car engines run hot, though, and with the hood insulation maybe it's adding too it...nothing seems wrong with it, though.

I have noticed this exact phenomenon in my rubi. I suspect it has something to do with the airflow and/or hood design.

ditto for me too... since the day I bought it back in Feb., after a 10 minute drive the black prop rod is too hot to touch. But with over 7500 miles on it now, the temp guage has never gone beyond mid-point.
