2011 Owners manual states; SAE 5W-20 engine oil is recommended for all operating temperatures.

The dealer/service department will use the recommended weight, but usually whatever brand their supplier is selling.
So, if you new to add a quart ??? get 5W-20 "whatever"

Thats a good question. I am going to ask the dealership next time I need a winter oil change (when its too cold and I am too lazy to do myself).

Although I buy my own oil and filter have the dealer use their nice warm service floor to put it in. I run different weight oils summer and winter. Saves me money and them having to run out and buy it because they don't always have it.

They will install whatever parts I buy, as long as I am willing to pay the labor.

They are quite a competent and accomodating bunch, and I am lucky.

I converted over to 5w-30, engine runs smoother and less oil burn off, One interesting fact, my wife has a Rav4 V6 that runs 5w20 as well, the owners manual for that one recommends switching to 5w30 in the winter/colder months. found that interesting as to if it would apply to all V6's.

Anyways, i did 5w30 and the engine runs better now, lots of others here will contended to the same.

The 5W is it's cold temperature viscosity so 5W30 and 5W20 are exactly the same in cold weather.

Most dealers stock and recommend 5w20. Personally I would do 5w30 or 10w30
