Default Oil change.

So heres the deal. I wanna change my own oil. I think I can get the oil change part... I got a oil pan. I am pretty sure about how to drain the old oil. I just don't know what weight oil to get and how much, or anything about the oil filter. I have basic tools, screw-drivers, socket wrenches, but is there any specialty tools? I did a search or two, but couldn't find anything I needed...

SO I ask so all the other guys who don't know don't have to now, can someone do a write-up for us? I just don't wanna pay the dealership for stuff I can do myself..

5w20 oil. 6 qts. Brand & synth. or dino is up to you. If it's the first oil change I would stick with dino (standard oil/not synthetic).

Filter, it's up to you. Go to the dealer and buy one for 5 bucks or go to the auto parts store near you and get a different brand. That's up to you.

A socket wrench is all you need. Good luck.

The manual covers the weight and the amount of oil.

Personally, I use Castrol GTX 5w20 with a Mopar filter.

you will get so many opinions on what type of oil to use, whatever you decide, use the correct weight. and use a good filter, mobil 1, k&n, ect. do not use Fram..do a search on filters, you will find a link

Do not center the drain pan under the drain plug, Just have the front edge of the drain pan under the drain plug. The thin weight oil really shoots out when you pull the plug. If you have the pan centered, it could shoot over the back edge when you first pull the plug.

Question So

How does the filter kick in to the oil change? Every change or what? And how do I change that?

The filter is changed everytime. Unscrew the old one & screw the new one on. Use your hands.
