thanks for the thought of the manual tho
Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a jerk. I just figured if you don't have a manual it would be an easy download then you would always have one.

If you drive under the following conditions (ie: everyone I know)
- Day or night temperatures below 32 degrees
- Stop and go driving
- Excessive Engine Idling
- Driving in Dusty Conditions
- Short trips less than 10 miles
- More than 50% of your driving is sustained high speeds during hot weather, above 90 degrees

You should change your oil every 3k miles.

An interesting side note is that the owners manual for my 2010 does not have a schedue A and schedule B. It just reccomends oil changes every 6k miles. This is very strange since there is no difference in the engine. Stupid Chrysler!

If you have any kind of warranty, I would do it every 3k and keep your records.

Yeah, just do it at 3000 miles. Its just good preventative maintenance and will only be good. I do a full synthetic change every 3000 miles.

I have been driving for over 25 years and I change my oil between 8 and 10,000 mile. I only use syntheetic Mobil 1 oil. Never had a problem.

Just bought a 2011 Rubi and the manual AND dealership recommend I come in at 8,000 miles. Never heard of this but I'm going with it.

They are now using Mobil 1 oil. This is what I have been using for the last 25 years in all of my cars or suv, and never had a problem. I have had cars with over 100,000 mile. That oil would last you up to 100,000 miles but what goes bad is the oils filters. I just had a oil change at the dealer to day. The next time I go back would be in about 8 to 10,000 mile.

The 3000 mile recommendation is a conspiracy set up by company's like Jiffy Lube.

I prefer 5000.

" but that's, like, just my opinion, man."

Sir, you are correct. That's not good.

Your Jeep is one of a few that use some oil. If I were you I would check the oil level weekly until I get comfortable with the consumption rate.

You bought used and probably have no warranty left, and if you do, Jeep will find a way of voiding it, take care of your engine.

I would also go with a thicker oil, like 5W30 instead of 20.

How many miles your Jeep has?

I've been using it for a least a decade now myself. I won't use anything less. I sorta figured they used it in my Jeep due to the 8,000 mile recommendation. If not, I was gonna put it in myself.
