Seafoam update. 100 miles in to the 500-1000 miles recommended leave in crankcase treatment, and I now have a leak or leaks for the first time ever. The bottoms of the engine and trans are saturated with oil and I leave oil spots on the ground now. Oil filter was loose so maybe that was it. Changing oil today it's freaking me out. Getting that stuff out ASAP. Then I'll clean the engine and keep an eye on it hopefully this is a fluke.

Maybe the old rubber seal stayed on the engine? Having the old seal on when the new filter is installed will result in a leak, and likely a loose filter.

Nope it wasn't loose until just now. The old grommet is not on there.

Had to bring it up. Have seen it happen a few times.

Changed oil, sprayed lots of degreaser on the underside of the engine and trans and dried it off to trace any leaks that develop. What I have, after using Seafoam in the crankcase for 100 miles, is a leak that drips enough to create a silver dollar sized spot each night. Sucks. I took pictures of where these new leaks are coming from. They collect at where the engine meets the trans, and drip from that spot. Never once leaked prior to this.

Did the Seafoam create the leak? Doubtful. Did it remove grime that was plugging up cracks in the gaskets? I'd imagine that is the case but I really don't know. What I do know is that there was already a slight indication of very light leakage in those areas; grimy build up, etc.

Thoughts?

PS: Having trouble loading pics so I will try to describe it. The oil pan is connected to a piece above it. That piece is connected to the block. The leakage is at both sides of the rear of where that piece connects to the block. It leaks down and drips.
