Default Oil Leak Help

Hello Folks,

I recently replaced a leaking valve covers gasket as I was seeing oil traces down the transmission bellhousing and I noticed that it’s coming from the top of the engine.

It’s been few days since the job was done and we wiped the areas next to the valve covers and the transmission bellhousing clean (with a dry cloth with no degreasers).

Yesterday and today I noticed some oil residue on the transmission bellhousing right where i was seeing it before the leak. It’s definitely a much less amount of oil than before the repair.

The question is: how do i know if this is residual oil from the previous leak? Or if it’s new leak?

no details. is this on the 3.6L engine? the obvious guess would be the leak is the oil cooler down under the intake manifold. that is not an area that is accessible to get your eyes on. they make great borscopes that plug into your phone and use an app, which are also super easy to store. you might want to think about one of these cuz you have just enough room to get one of those down in the crevass enough to see if you have oil back there.

this is what I use, and it was well worth the $25 -
