The old red lighting boot of death
Good evening everybody. I’m hoping someone can help me. I have been getting hit while driving with the red lighting bolt.
Now after looking king only I see it could be a number of things that all are around the throttle.
Today i I took off the throttle body and cleaned it. No joy.
Put it on a new air intake sensor. No joy.
Checked the Accelerator plug in. No joy.
it happens sometimes when I start and other times when I’m driving ranging from 10 to 65 mph.
Only thing to get it to to reset is to unhook the battery.
Please help if anyone knows of something to fix this.

I had a similar problem and like you- all things pointed to throttle. I was close to replacing the throttle body when I gave the EGR valve a good look-over. EGR was leaking air behind the throttle body which was making the computer think it was throttle related. A new gasket and some tightened bolts on the EGR and it was solved.
